Its actually the opposite - the possibility of losing your ship and modules is what makes it meaningful (since you really, really care when they cost alot).
I know you might not agree with this, and im sure alot of people out there think that wow's way of pvp is more fun. But i do think that if you try more eve pvp where you win fights and not only lose ships because of being ganked yourself, you will see this thing in a different light.
So just go out there and kill people, basicly. --- The Eve Wiki Project |

I feare that at one point teh devs will listen to this type of ppl and ruin eve.
I don't want eve to become the second E'n'B or SWG...
Instanced PVP = end of EVE...
I think the devs are alot smarter about this than blizzard was. They wont replace the current pvp with instances. There might be instanced training/dueling grounds, but it wont hurt the game.

The game is perfect as it is, but new content, bug fixing and some new features (kali) are always welcome. But not this.
I agree those things should definently have alot higher priority. There are alot of bugs that seem to irritate people to death, judging from the sticky thread. Lets get those fixed as priority one. --- The Eve Wiki Project |

People will have more respect for you when you know what you are talking about. Some people have been playing the game for 3 years and eve is considered the best pvp mmorpg out there. Adding duel/training areas separate from the real game wouldnt bother me, but you cant expect to come here with ideas about changing the pvp system that has taken eve this far very successfully.

It is not the game preventing you from PvPing: it is you. I think I can say with some assurance that you have never PvPed in eve voluntarily. Until you try that, you will honestly never understand. Today, get a rifter, go out, and have fun.
I have. I got in a vexor and went off with the pvp director in our corp. First combat we saw we ran into battleships. Wasn't even a fight really. Or else, I would not describe it as competative, as in, it wasn't even close. Somehow they jammed my pod before I could escape. Thats at least 4 hours lost. I understand. Do YOU understand? Yeah, I lost something, what a GD thrill. I imagine blowing someone else up is thrilling too. I would probably go cut myself and spank it I'd get so excited. Whoohoo, I caused him grief! btw your sig really is phat
Just go play another game. Seriously. You dont understand this system and im beginning to think you never will, because you dont listen to people telling you the truth.

A lot of people on these forums seem to look at what the majority of posts say in a thread and agree without taking time to form anything resembling an argument. Also many seem to think they know what is best for Eve, but they do not, the OP has given his view and is sticking to it without flaming or trolling as many others have done.
Well, its kind of provocative when somebody new comes in and claim to know how eve pvp should work, ignoring all the reasons given why its a bad idea. But i agree, people dont need to flame. Personally i just asked him to play another game. --- The Eve Wiki Project |

On these battlefields, no isk can be made, no wars can be won or lost - how could this possibly affect the "real" PvP of Eve except maybe showing people that think PvP is Ebil that it actually isnt?
Im afraid it would affect the real pvp of eve. People would stick to empire even more if they could get their quick pvp fix without any penalties. I dont know if you played WoW, but when blizzard introduced instanced pvp with battlegrounds, the real world pvp died over night. Im not saying this will happen in eve, but having instanced pvp in empire would certainly create even less incentive for going to 0.0.
Or what do you think?

Can you really see alliance PvPers giving up 0.0, and pirates giving up low sec activities to fight all day in instanced battlefields - I really can't see it happening.
No no, of course not. Those guys fight for real reasons. But all the ones just going around trying to find fights do it because they like the excitement of it. They dont have any real reasons besides fun to do it (except maybe looting something good i guess, but you could make more money mining/trading and buy that stuff if you wished). Im a little worried that instanced pvp would remove some of that kind of fighting from the game.
But who knows... the debate will go on. --- The Eve Wiki Project |

Yeah. I agree that potential losses keep alot of players from even trying pvp, at least until they get rich and can afford to lose ships. So i guess some kind of instanced training area or duelling area could be good for that purpose. But they better not make it too good so people start spending all their time in there. --- The Eve Wiki Project |

Edited by: Jim McGregor on 21/05/2006 08:40:04 /me dont see the harm in having pvp training grounds with other players. But that doesnt mean there isnt any. So post some information why this would be bad for the game.
